CURRICULUM VITAE


Zhixin Angus Liao is a multi-disciplinary artist currently based and work in Rotterdam, Brussels and sometimes in Guangzhou. He completed his MFA at Guangxi Arts University (CN) in 2016 and earned an MA in Painting from the Frank Mohr Institute (NL) in 2018. From 2021 to 2022, he was a laureate resident at HISK--Hoger Instituut Voor Schone Kunsten (BE). Liao's diverse work spans videos, images, installations, and paintings, exploring the intersections of personal experiences, ideally global identity, and the material world. Liao has participated in residencies such as Vincent van GoghHuis AiR in Zundert, Greylight Projects Heerlen X Borderland Residencies, and the SAFFCA.EU studio project Brussels in 2024. His upcoming exhibitions are scheduled at C. Rockefeller Center for the contemporary Arts in Dresden, and Art NOVA100 at Future Land Center in 2025. Recent exhibitions include venues like, ABBY Kortrijk Museum (BE), Brussel ZSenne Art Lab (BE) , Sammlung Philara Museum (DE), Maison des Arts (BE), Moezeum Rotterdam (NL), PuntWG (NL), StadsGalerij Breda (NL), and Buitenplaats Doornburgh (NL) x Amsterdam Bijbels Museum. Liao has been recognized with awards, including the Pictoright Steunfonds (2022), the Encouragement Prize from BRUTUS (2020), and support from the Mondriaan Fund's Jong Talent Artists Prize (2019-2021) for his projects.
