CURRICULUM VITAE


Zhixin Angus Liao is a multi-disciplinary artist currently based between Brussels, Rotterdam, and Guangzhou.

His diverse work spans videos, sculptures, installations, and paintings. Liao completed his MFA at Guangxi Arts University (CN) in 2016 and earned an MA in Painting from the Frank Mohr Institute (NL) in 2018. He was a laureate resident at HISK--Hoger Instituut Voor Schone Kunsten (BE) from 2021 to 2022. His artistic practice explores the intersections of personal experience, global identity ideals, and the material world. His work often navigates the space between perception and site-specific contexts, addressing situational, political, and metaphorical layers. Angus has participated in prestigious residencies, including Vincent van GoghHuis AiR (2024) in Zundert, Greylight Projects Heerlen X Borderland Residencies (2023-2024), and the SAFFCA.EU(Southern African Fellowship for Contemporary Art in Europe)  studio project (2023-2024) at La Cambre Brussels. His upcoming exhibitions are scheduled at Maison des Arts (BE), Moezeum Rotterdam (NL), Powerlong Art Center (CN), and Abby Kortrijk (BE) in 2024 and 2025. His recent exhibitions include venues such as Sammlung Philara Museum (DE), StadsGalerij Breda (NL), and Amsterdam Bijbels Museum x Buitenplaats Doornburgh (NL). Angus has been honored with awards, including the Pictoright Steunfonds (2022), the Encouragement Prize from BRUTUS (2020), and support from the Mondriaan Fund's Jong Talent Artists Prize (2019-2021) for his projects.
