I created a 1:1 size replica to replace the poster at the Molenbeek Museum(MOMUSE), which is conveniently located just 15 minutes away from the AGOSSETSITE.
The vibrant green St. Michel advertising poster initially caught my attention at the start of my research on Molenbeek. Historian and MOMUSE director, Sven Steffens, acquired this massive original poster from the Paris market.
The discussion proceeded as follows:
"Is it possible to borrow this fantastic and valuable poster to display it inside the GOSSETSITE, where St. Michel cigarettes were once produced? This would allow us to showcase the brand's historical significance."
"Yes, I would be delighted to loan it to you for display at the former cigarette factory. However, this means our display wall at the museum will be left empty. We must carefully consider the impact on the local museum system in Brussels, as our collection is limited, and we aim to maintain a balanced and stable exhibition."
After a brief moment of reflection, we reached an agreement: I would use my artistic skills to create a replica to replace the poster at the Molenbeek Museum.
